As most states continue the march toward reduced restrictions, poker rooms around the country are starting to open. We’ll be giving you weekly updates on the open poker rooms, along with a quick summary of guidelines/practices. With things changing on a daily basis, you should check websites or call any room you plan to attend to confirm hours and safety rules. States that are not listed do not have poker rooms (e.g., Alaska, Hawaii, Utah, Vermont, Idaho). The majority of rooms that are open describe enhanced cleaning procedures which we will not detail here. We will rather focus on issues that immediately affect your experience (e.g., mask requirements, Plexiglas installation, limits on number of players at tables). Note also that when “masks” are referred to it generally means some covering of mouth and nose. Most rooms have opened with cash but have held off on tournaments to this point. Where we have found exceptions we have noted them. UPDATED: January 9, 2021 Arizona Casinos are allowed to open but many poker rooms remain closed within casinos. However, even some rooms initially opened closed in December due to new orders of Governor and local officials in response to the increased number of cases in the state. Now fewer rooms are open.
